Meeting Jeremy Corbin

My wife and I had the great privilege of meeting Mr Jeremy Corbin MP and leader of the Labour party. We were at a Labour party fundraiser event hosted in Wolverhampton. I spoke to him about the pressures we are facing in the NHS and how this current conservative government are destroying the NHS as we know and love.

He obviously is fully aware of the situation; he is in full support of the NHS staff and has pledged to support us all fully as leader of the labour party and hopefully prime minister.

I can honestly say I have not met a more genuine and honest MP in my entire career as a trade unionist.

Unison & The Trust & ROE Staff

Unison Coventry & St Cross branch are still trying to negotiate with the trust with regards to the current proposed changes to the ROE agreement and its current implementation. We are committed to resolving this issue and finding a mutual way forward for the current ROE staff and the trust.

We have now had the results of the consultative ballot from Unison West Midlands, and it is as follows:

239 sent

42 returned

3 spoilt

Question

Yes

No

Will you consider taking strike action on this ROE issue?

28

7

Will you consider taking action up to but not including strike action?

24

2

Will you take no action on this?

6

17

With this level of non returned ballot papers, we have no option but to withdraw from any further collective action regarding the ROE issue, due to having no mandate from the members involved.

Progress being made on MAP

Unison, along with our sister unions have negotiated better terms for our members in the new UHCW Management of Absence Policy. There has been a lot of staff-side input into the new policy regarding management decretion and appropriate resonable adjustments being implimented, we feel it helps a lot more towards our members with disabilities and underlying conditions.

Other main improvements is that the trust will now pay for the first 2 weeks of your phased return after long term illness. The trust will also not include a shift as sickness if you are able to work over 50% of the shift.
