Unison, along with our sister unions have negotiated better terms for our members in the new UHCW Management of Absence Policy. There has been a lot of staff-side input into the new policy regarding management decretion and appropriate resonable adjustments being implimented, we feel it helps a lot more towards our members with disabilities and underlying conditions.
Other main improvements is that the trust will now pay for the first 2 weeks of your phased return after long term illness. The trust will also not include a shift as sickness if you are able to work over 50% of the shift.
UPDATE; We are now involved with delivering the training given to managers on managing attendance and are advising on how discretion and policy should be applied. Hopefully this new approach will start to filter down benefits to members on how they are treated under this policy.
